The painting (acrylic on paper on board) is based on Vermeer’s ‘The Music Lesson’ but with all but the chair removed. The impoverishment left for his family on Vermeer’s death contrasts with the spotlight now on his work, from darkness to light. The installation employs the light projection mechanism.
